The Hawke's Bay A&P Society are working extremely hard to still bring together the very best celebration of all things rural! Whilst Covid19 has certainly done its best to derail the show we are determined to provide a safe event for competitors.
New Zealand’s current uncertainty around Covid19 Levels has cast doubt on much of the country’s event sector however, due to the restrictions being placed on the Society, we have had to make the hard decision to adapt the Hawke’s Bay A&P Show for the 2020 season.
Based on this the 2020 A&P Show will not be a spectator Show. We will still hold many of the traditional competitions and displays normally hosted at the A&P Show such as equestrian, dog trials, poultry, Dairy Goats, Donkey, Alpaca and Fencing, however, we will not be having the general public coming through the gates as spectators.
Should New Zealand’s Covid19 restrictions move to Level One the A&P Society will consider allowing the public access to the show, albeit on a very limited scale.
Since we are in Level 1, we are still able to bring the fabulous Mahon's Carnival and rides to the showgrounds from Thursday 22 - Monday 26 October! This will be held in the Karamu paddock on the corner of Karamu and Kenilworth Roads (not in the same area as usual). It's free to enter but you will still need to pay to get on the rides. Look out for Animal World in the Waikoko Gardens as well! The general public will NOT be able to access the competitors area.

A full list of what sections are still running is available under COMPETITION ENTRIES

It is with much sadness that the Society has had to adapt the education programme and won't be inviting Primary school students to further their learning at the A&P Show. Fortunately, there is still a wonderful array of fun and educational activities and learning opportunities in the pre-Show programme. A revised programme will be made available to all schools no later than 18th September.
Growing the knowledge bank of the Agriculture Industry is important to us. The Hawke's Bay A&P Society is committed to engaging with learners of all levels, we do this through a variety of ways and working with key providers.
